I'm a ProEngineer user of 10 years but just started at a new company that has Inventor/Sheet Metal package that I'm teaching myself, they've never used it before.
I started my current project by creating a sheet metal part and set the material thickness at the beginning. When I was finish the part flat pattern worked just fine. The next thing I did was start an assembly and insert my initial part to create additional parts of it because of the unusual geometry. Now the assembly is complete and I open the other parts individually but the flat patter doesn't work. If I convert the part to a model and then back to a sheet metal part I get the message "For proper unfolding the model should have uniform thicknes..." but I can't find where to set this in the part file or the assembly. Is this something I should've done at the beginning of my assembly creation and can it be fixed at this point? |

Be sure to use a Sheet Metal Template in Inventor. It will short cut a lot of the steps you're taking. Also Inventor 11 is several years old and tremendous ease of use and capability steps have been made with Inventor in that time. You do not have to convert your part back and forth between a traditional Solid and Sheet Metal. There is a downward pointing arrow at the top of the Panel Bar (where the tools are) that allows you to switch to the modeling tools while you're in a Sheet Metal part. This is a great feature. Also take a look at the built in tutorials in Inventor. There are a couple of sheet metal examples that will help to show you how Inventor "thinks" about sheet metal. Thom |

When you open the other sheet metal part.
Step-1 : Go to Tools - fx Parameters and change bend radius equal to thickess. Step-2 : Click on Bend command (From panel bar),select inner edge & click OK. Step-3 : Click on flat pattern It should work. Mark,
