Hai,

I am Design Engr. using Catia and I-Deas s/w for my work.

* Recently I found that Sheet-metal Unfolded view gives dimension same for all engg. materials . Its a known fact that different engg. materials have different Co-Efficient of Expansion and the value must change for different materials. This is what referred to as Bend allowance. But its not so. Is Catia wrong or my measuring is wrong?

* How to get a copy of assembly file without any associations between the two assembly(old and newly created one) and also parts under the assembly files.

NOTE: Both questions are w.r.t CATIA s/w and hope to get some response for this ASAP. Pleaseeeeeeeeee

Another problem I want to discuss is; My house is having a leakage during Rainy season. Irrespective of what ever solutions used, I couldnt find anything to control the menace. The leakage takes place only in three particular portion of the house from the roof. Please help me with solution. I know its not correct to ask but legally this problem is related to Engineering.

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and time.

Regards,
Humblehard

YOU HAVE TO CHANGE HTE APPLIED MATERIAL YOU ARE USING. EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE BENDING SHEET METAL, YOU STILL NEED TO SET UP PARAMETERS.

I have tried whatever options I could use. BTW, I work in South Korea but Indian Engineer. Here everything needs to be spoon-fed along with design even Manufacturing material layouts to be also given :(.

Any other options left out, please let us all know. Thanks in advance for all of your time.

May I know where to change this HTE Applied Material. I changed the material by using Apply Material option and Measured the dimensions in the unfolded view. For any material being applied, It remains the same. I also tried the option of using the Analysis tab under properties option of the respective material. Yet it remains the same. Any other options left out, please let us all know. Thanks in advance for all of your time.

First, how about one question per post for simplicity...

Yes the bend allowance coefficient is different for selected materials. It has been years since I used Catia, however I beleive you have to manually change the bend allowance number to get the correct flat pattern.

By the way, I don't know where you work, but are you realy sure you need to design the flat pattern? Often the end item is design and manufacturing design the flat pattern. Let us know what the solution is (Manual change or other and how..)

"How to get a copy of assembly file without any associations between the two assembly(old and newly created one) and also parts under the assembly files."

I beleive you will have to create a new file for each part and the assembly. Thier is no way to load an assembly with part files present and the original file not imported. Do you have Rev-Assembly?

How did you loose the help files? Is your version registered and a legal copy? Ask your software supplier or whom ever you purchased the version from for the files..

Thanks Mr. Kelly Bramble.

Well, I asked multiple questions for feasibility and not to cause any dis-concern. Sorry if I have.

* If bend allowance is to be added manually, then how and how to calculate it? I did calculate using same website but It didn't match with the s/w value. What to be done now? I have to give the sheet-metal Layout so that time is saved as lot of my work is based on Sheet-metal. I work for Automobile Sector.

* I tried using Save Management where the Assembly part files can be saved in Assembly file location/folder/directory. But once the Assembly parts exist in the system, then they don't get saved separately but as associated files.

So there are no options for my second problem as such? Hmm.. thought that some solution will be there as such. Anyways Thanks a lot for your efforts.

Regards,
Humblehard
