When drawing a laser-cut knockout (a small panel that can be removed) should the model be made with the attachment tabs in place or should they just be called out in the draft?

Thanks,

Ron

The way I do this is not to not show them in the model, but have a call-out on the drawing. For the purpose of the model what I have done is for the knockout portion to slightly recesed on the outside and raised on the inside showing the portion to be removed. Having the knockout as a individual feature gives you the ability to remove the knockouts/features for assemblies.

I would also recommend calling out a breakout force range for the knockout. I was burned very hard on a computer port knockout that came in from overseas when it took over 20lbs and my print only pointed out that it was a knockout. They agreed to fix it, but we had already deployed a few which required a recall.
