Radiant heat exchange for two isothermal (constant temperature) perpendicular flat black plates of different lengths but equal widths equation and calculator.

The heat flow *(q) *from the plate is calculated as:

q = 56.69 x 10^{-9} x VF_{(1-2)} x L _{1} x W (T_{1}^{4} - T_{2}^{4} )

Where 56.69 x 10^{-9} is the average Stefan-Bolzmann constant,
*L _{1} *is the length of plate 1,

*W*the common width of both plates,

*T*is the plate 1 temperature and

_{1}*T*is the plate 2 temperature. The view factor

_{2}*VF*(also known as radiation shape factor, angle factor, and configuration factor) is defined as: :

Where:

L_{1} = Length (m)

L_{2} = Length (m)

W = Width (m)

x = L_{1} / W

y = L_{2} / W

z = x^{2} + y^{2}

T_{1} = Plate 1 Temperature (K)

T_{2} = Plate 2 Temperature (K)

VF_{1-2} = View Factor

q = Radiated Heat Flow (W)
