3D Laser Scanning Review, which is also known as 3D Digitizing, is a inspection / engineering process, which by the use of specialized 3D laser equipment uses laser light to digitize a 3D physical object.

The 3D laser equipment uses laser triangulation, which can produce a accurate digitizes object. Laser triangulation is a stereoscopic method where the distance of the object calculated by a directional light source and a video camera. A laser beam is deflected from a mirror onto the object being scanned or digitized. The object surface scatters the light, which is then collected by a video camera located at a known distance from the laser source. Using algebraic equations, the object 3D coordinates (X,Y,Z) of the surface being scanned is calculated. Many 3D data points are collected and stored as a cloud of points which represent the scanned object. By use of special software, the data or cloud of points are processed into a surface representation of the object which has been 3D laser scanned.
