The new BK9103 Bus Coupler provides PROFINET compatibility with over 200 Beckhoff I/O terminal types.

The new BK9103 PROFINET Bus Coupler from Beckhoff Automation brings manufacturers and machine builders using PROFINET access to over 200 different Beckhoff I/O terminal types. With the BK9103, Beckhoff has provided comprehensive I/O support for yet another Industrial Ethernet fieldbus, which, in addition to PROFINET, includes EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP and Ethernet TCP/IP.

The BK9103 Bus Coupler integrates the modular Beckhoff Bus Terminal I/O system as a slave in a PROFINET network. The PROFINET-certified BK9103 features an integrated 2-port Ethernet Switch, which provides more flexible topology configuration. For example, Beckhoff PROFINET I/O nodes can be configured with a line topology, instead of the traditional star topology. This reduces the wiring effort in many applications, which can also help lead to a significant reduction in installation costs.

The BK9103 Bus Coupler supports PROFINET RT. It is addressed via a DIP switch, meaning the BK9103 does not require a memory card for storing the address name or additional configuration software.
