Motors Feature Higher Moment of Inertia Without Requiring an Additional Gear Component. Beckhoff Automation has extended its Drive Technology range with the introduction of the AM3500 series servo motors. In contrast to many competitive offerings on the market, these new servo motors have a higher moment of inertia, making them well suited for machine tool axes with stringent synchronism requirements. These motors can eliminate a gear box in high inertia applications such as rotary tables. The motor flanges, connectors and shafts of the new AM3500 series are compatible with the tried and tested Beckhoff AM3000 motors. The new AM3500 models are available with flange sizes 3 to 6, torques between 1.9 and 15 Nm and rated speeds of 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. Resolvers or absolute encoders (single- or multi-turn) are available as a feedback system. The standard protection class is IP 64 with IP 65/67 available as an option. This motor series is CE-, UL- and CSA-listed. Based on new material and manufacturing technologies, the AM3500 series has the same advanced features of the AM3000 series low-inertia servomotors, including compact size, which is achieved via pole wound stator winding.
