I am trying to determine a rough estimate of what kind of horizontal force is applied at the bottom of a cliff, on to a bulkhead sheeting wall. The cliff is about 100 feet high with a slope of 30 - 45 degrees. The cliff flattens out at the top.. I understand i am missing alot of vital info, but a nudge in the right direction is all i require.. Thanks

This could be forces from zero (a solid rock cliff) to thousands of tons (a soil and mud mound).
Clearly, if you need to construct a bulkhead to hold back the advancing of a cliff base you have human lives and/or property value at stake. This is no place for someone not well versed in the physics of such a project. You need to seek the services of a certified mine engineer. They have the skills required to design such a project. If you do not have the skills even to know how to approach the project nor what questions to ask, you have no business doing any of the design work. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. Do you people wonder why you receive no answers to some of you questions?
Maybe it is because nobody understands your problem. In this case, for example: What is a "horizontal force on a bulkhead sheeting wall"? Clarify your request and provide a drawing if possible--and maybe you will get a response. |
