I am looking for the web address on this site that gives equations for mechanical advantages using pulley designs. I have seen it here before but I can't find it now. Thanks

To cut to the chase... any pulley that causes the rope to be pulled farther than the lift is gaining the factor of that distance difference, less friction losses.

So, if I pull a rope over a pulley set in a way that I pull 20 feet of rope and move the load 5 feet I have gained 4 to 1.

You trade distance for advantage.
