We have a saw that requires 130psi to operate. Plant air runs 90psi. We are using a stand alone air compressor at the saw to meet it's requirement. In general is an air booster or intensifier a better choice based on overall life cycle cost? I understand that it won't be as efficient but with a clean dry air supply it should require much less maintenance, right?. I don't have the saw's cfm usage but can get it if needed. "bosters" can be a reasonable choice if you do not require high CFM's. A booster is going to consume some of your compressed air volume in pay-off to boosting the pressure. For more accurate data you should request a data sheet on the product you are considering to purchase. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |

I have a couple of applications like this. We went to the intensifier and have been pleased with the reliability and cost. This is steel mill environment. If you need specific info you can email me. email removed - use email author located to the left.
