A friend brought me this cylinder to replace the seals in. Besides being a bugger to take a part- snap ring inside the barrel under two of the seals, the two piece flange has me baffled. When assembled this will leave openings on each side of about 1/8 inch. This just doesn't make sense to me as this would cause it to leak by. Has anyone ever seen this type of arrangement?

Is that Teflon? Are you sure it still has those gaps when it is in the constrained position of being inside the bore? 'or something is missing. You are correct in that if those gaps remain there will be no seal between the pressure side and the netrual side. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
