| Compression resistance formulas- for Steel Angles with equal legs | |||

I am seeking the L3x3x1/4 Steel angle formulas to hold a big square bin (there will be 4 legs). I want the formulas to calculate how much weight can they take.

Based on your diagram, your main concern should be stiffness and buckling, not compression. With proper side support to prevent buckling your legs should sustain a significant vertical load. But if it is very heavy I would be much more concerned about stability and tipping hazards. |
