Hi , I'm having some difficulty in interpreting bode plots of Magnitude & Phase for Frequency Responses. Could anyone shed some light on this for me ? Much appreciated |

Basically it is a simplified log-log plot of magnitude vs frequency function usually called a transfer function.
The plot has breaks (slope discontinuities) at each of the poles and zeros of the transfer function; As the frequency increases, the slope changes by +6 db per octave each time the frequency passes a zero of the function and - 6db per octave for each pole of the transfer function. The plot is actually the asymtotes of the actual log-log plot. It is often used for stability analysis in control systems. If you have a specific aplication, we could give you more insight. |
