I'm a senior mechanical engineering student working on my Senior Design project and have run into some issues. I've asked professors in the electrical engineering department at my school but they seem uninterested, and people in the industry are not as willing to help as i was hoping. I have little experience with these components, so i have come to you guys as a last resort. Using a forum-style website is not against any rules at my school, this site and its members will be cited accordingly and listed as a reference in my final report. Situation:
I need to be able to push a button on the remote, actuator 1 extends and retracts, push button a second time, actuator 2 extends and retracts, repeat. I have found methods of doing so using remotes with several buttons, but this adds unnecessary complexity for the user. I am unfamiliar with what kind of remote I will be needing, also(type of outputs, what to watch out for, etc). The linear actuators I am currently considering have limit switches which will stop them at the end of their desired stroke, so some sort of automatic return comes to mind. This seems simple enough, but as I said motion control and electrical componentry is not my forte. Any advice regarding this would be much appreciated, reference to exact parts or part numbers would be appreciated even more. If I've left out any information that would be needed, let me know. Thanks again. -Brett |

You might try this website, www.patchn.com
It used to have a good base of knowledge from several different crafts/disciplines. It also has some electrical tutorials. Good luck, Maytag |

Hi Brett and welcome to the forum....we tend not to give advise on homework in this forum. It looks like something your Prof. should be able to give you guidance on. Good Luck |
