I am an amature engineer. Just want to to know what is Over drive, standard drive while rivet installation. |

Hi and welcome to the forum....I'm not sure that I understand the question. Are you inquiring about a rivet or the tool to install the rivet. |

I think Gane, maybe be looking for a "Bucking Bar" if Gane is talking about a solid rivet. |

What ever be the rivet. As far as i know the rivet installation can be classified into 3 types
standard driven, overdriven and slightly overdriven. I just wanted to know the difference in these installation processes.... Thanks for the support |

Ok, your talking about solid rivets. These are not catagories as I understand, these are the state of installation. There is also slightly under-driven, etc... Catagories of rivets include: pop-rivets, blind rivets, cherry rivets (heated before bucking operations), solid rivets, Clutch rivet, tube rivets, cold and hot rivets, lock rivets, Self-pierce rivets, and others.. When a solid rivet is driven properly, the mushroomed head will (should) be a certain diameter and height. i went through the table and material that was provided. but there is no specific dimensions to know when the rivet is standard driven, when it is over driven .... Please clarify this. |
