Does anyone know where API IF Threads seal? Is it on the threads or on the shoulder? |

For Rotary Shouldered Connections, the fluid seal is at the shoulder, the threads hold the joints together and transmits the torque/stress over the drill string.

Given that they are taper threads, both. If the shoulder does not make contact then the thread only, but either the inner or outer thread is out of gauge if the shoulder does not make contact. Dave |
