I am adding a sensor in an area in our facility without access to power close by. The maint. techs told me they need to drop power in that area. Can anyone explain the process to me? Thanks |

They are going to either run some conduit or Bx cable or whatever they like to use and get you power where you need it... dropping a line... Or they could be pulling power from a nearby existing high voltage line and use a voltage transformer to reduce the current for your sensor. Dropping power... If the sensor is part of a piece of equipment chances are they'll pull power from the control panel of that machine so that when that machine is powered up the sensor is also powered up. If the sensor has nothing to do with a machine then it should be on it's own circuit so it will always have power supplied to it regardless of the status of any other machines. Basically your electricians just need to be made aware of the purpose of the sensor and they will be able to provide you with what you need. |

The group or person responsible for electrical power at that location will determine the power requirements and install the required electric power. Thet will likely consider the environment and local applicable electrical codes before runnin ghte electrical power in. |
