I am an army of one on this one. I need something with a little power but definitely not too expensive. Parametric modeling would be important. Any ideas? Thanks

solidworks, solidworks, solidworks...hard to beat the ease of use, technically sound and versatility. 3D parametric Design,2D drawings and 2D and 3D assembly modeling, FEA analysis, checher, interference, exporting to many other formats, your designs can be manipulated by others if they download a free drawing viewer. Also, sheet metal and mold functions (too much to list) Cost is not the most favorable part, but in the running with many others. They do offer lease with low monthly payment options. I have designed aftermarket bike parts for 5 + years

I totally agree with eddcc1, go with Solid Works. "The most bang for your buck". If you go with Pro-E, buy about a half a dozen or so computer mouses, cause it will make you click 5 times to get the simplest thing done. NX is another alternative, but pricer than Solid Works. My order of selection, 1) Solid Works 2) NX6 3) AutoCad Inventor 4)paper and pencil 5)Pro-E |

I would do some research and see what software other bike manufactures are using. I really don't think anyone makes software just for bikes. PRO-E or Solid-works would be a start. |

Costum Bikes design is fusion of art and engineering. to design a costum bike you require a parametric softaware that is capable of doing good work with curves or surface design for this Catia is better and u require good part modeling capablity for this pro e is good.. |

I would suggest SolidWorks for its ease of use. I have just been teaching some students how to design a bike frame. Thsi is one i quickly made on SolidWorks.
