reduction of motor torque

Hi,

i've studied computer science. In company i'm working i've got the task to test a function in C which checks if the torque reduction is needed in the motor. The motor works together with a Direct-Shift gearbox.
The code is not commented and the variables are abbreviations, so it's badly readable.

To understand the code quicker i've decided to post the following question:
When/why is torque reduction of the motor is needed, especially in the case of a Direct-Shift gearbox?

I think you misunderstood the name of this forum. When it said "Codes and Standards" it meant legal codes, laws, like building codes, not computer codes. I don't think you will get much help with your question here.
