Direction to tap thread?
I feel a bit of a muppet for asking this, but I'm creating a drawing which has a tapped hole all the way through, and I can't find any information on how to actually indicate within the ISO guidelines on which side to tap the hole from.
Any ideas, or resources that you could point me to would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks.

Doesn't matter where they tap from as your asking for threads "all the way through".
Don't forget that there should be thread relief on both sides of the threaded hole feature. If you have specific requirements as such - state it...
BTW, welcome to EE!

This explains why I felt like a muppet ;]
I'm not a machinist, but I have tapped my share of holes but for some reason I'd never thought about the thread being operable from either side :o
Thankyou for the knock on the head and the welcome :]

Welcome, and the unofficial rule-of-thumb is to drill and tap from the side that the Leader points to on the drawing.

Bet ya I can produce a drawing where you can't drill and tap from from the leader side.
