Material Modifier GD&T
I have an interview question which was asked to one of my colleague and I couldn't get it clearly. So posting it here. Hoping to get a clear idea of what it is.
The Question was asked liked this " The tolerance value is 0 to 0.1 mm so what could be the material modifier value".
I need help to understand this.
Rajiv.

MMC or MMB, Maximum Material Condition or Maximum Material Boundary.
or
0 at MMC with a feature of size variable spread of 0.1
Somebody needs to study or get GD&T training... GD&T = Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for your response..
I understand that it's related to GD&T and I've been trained up to intermediate level.
But I never came across this kind of a question. May be it was asked in a different way.
You mean to say material modifier value will be 0 for his question. He has not mentioned about the feature whether it will be for a hole or a shaft anything like that. That's where I got confused.

Yes, that's what I'm suggesting..
Of course the question is not totally clear without an example...

It means that the given GD&T number on the print would be shown as a zero. But due to the modifier (most likely the circled M, called MMC, but it could also be the circled L, called LMC), the GD&T value may grow to be more than the given zero tolerance. The source of this growth is the size tolerance on that feature.
