Thanks for the replies and the lesson on copyright law ethics in a open public forum. I didn't ask for the scan of the whole 762 pages Mr Bramble,I just asked for the chapter 'inertia forces and...

Book on inertial forces in IC engine

Can anyone suggest a good book to understand the inertial mass forces+mass couples in an IC engine i.e 1st order and 2nd order mass forces+mass couples.
I still can't find a book that also includes...

But, why do most of the gear design textbooks have gear shift rpms designed around the max power point? My understanding is that such gear designs are meant for maximum acceleration(correct me if I'm...

If the shift points are on either side of the max. torque point, what would you classify this as? optimum fuel mileage? OR Optimum acceleration? OR Smooth acceleration?

    Ic engine torque power curves

    Q. If the rpm at which the max torque occurs is 4500 rpm, is it safe to assume that the rpm at which max power occurs is twice i.e 9000 rpm?

    Further, is it...
  7. direction of forece action for cornering force and lateral force

I understand that cornering force and lateral force(aka disturbing side force in below fig) are different things, but why does the 'disturbing side force' in the below diagram arise? Is it because of...

    Correction to my calculations:
I added an unnecessary *10^3 in the formula for bmep. Stupid of me. In that case, the bore dia comes to 115.5mm. The calc. of stroke stays the same.

Thanks, that was the best advice ever:over-square,under-square.I realize what I did it wrong the first time. I took the bmep at max Power too low i.e I used the value of 7bar instead of something...
  11. measuring vacuum inHg from the intake manifold of a diesel engine

I would like to know if there is any diagnostic use to measuring the vacuum pressure from the intake manifold of a "diesel" engine as compared to a petrol engine. I'm guessing, diesels use an external...
  12. A more clear view of what the problem is

644I have attached a scanned note of my calculations on paper. I finally arrive at a realistic value for stroke by assuming it as half of the bore diameter. L=B/2
    I conclude this assumption...
  13. Design of 4 stroke CI engine from few parameters(bmep,Brake Po,max.mean piston speed)

(I have trouble in finding the stroke length and fuel flow rate)
    From Heywood,E2.11
You are designing a 4 stroke CI to provide a brake power of 300kW,Naturally aspirated at its max rated...
