    Compound Dispensing

    Hello,

I have a silicone based adhesive/sealant that I am trying to dispense from a cylindrical tube. The problem is the air pockets in it are causing an inconsistant result. Does anybody have any ideas about how to seperate and release the air pockets? Im thinking that warming it up might be the best/only option at this point and hope that the air will seperate itself out. Any thoughts?

Vacuum! It doesn't take much. I had a similar problem with trapped bubbles potting clear epoxy many years back. As soon as it was poured and before it had time to set, I put it in a sealed box and ran a shop-floor vacuum cleaner for about 2 minutes and the bubbles all came out.

We had that problem here in our MFG plant. I implemented automatic and handheld dispensers. The automatic system uses a syringe with an internal piston that pushes the air of the 1st few shots.

We use over a dozen Loctite products and haven't had a problem since.
