Plating Thickness. Is it implied for per side or total?

    Hi all,
if a drawing has a note for finish process ..., ".0008" thick".
What do you usually understand or been told the .0008" thick is for per side or for total?

    Thanks

Unless it's noted otherwise, I'd assume that that was the finish thickness all over the element to be coated but if you're unsure; it's best to check with whomever produced the drawing.

With same phrase "# thick", some engineers said it's for total. ???? Yes, we need to ask. Thanks.
