    Filters Backwash - Water treatment

    ipt>
    Hello,

I have two alternatives from which I need to choose:
    First:
used backwash water shall be recirculated to the head of the water treatment
    without any further treatment.

    Second:
Designing a separate treatment for the used backwash water.

The water treatment includes coagulation & flocculation, sedimentation and filtration.

Can you please advise me why should I design a special side process for the used
backwash water? In any case, most of the side treatments include the same
    processes as the main line.

Source of water is a river and capacity is pretty low (about 700 m3/hr)

    Thanks,
    David

    Welcome to EE!

This question is way out of my knowledge realm...

I would first suggest that you research out any local od national regulations on how to design for water treatment. If no regulation are available I would suggest using the most likely to succeed design.

It is way easier to over engineer than to engineering it "just right"...

    Good luck
