    Vacuum Chambers

    Hi guys,

I read somewhere that the three most important factors to consider when designing a vacuum chamber are:

    Modulus of rigidity
    Elastic limit
    Rupture limit

My question is, why? Don't these measure if we have the eactly opposite scenario to a vacuum i.e. incredibly high pressures? We should be caring about compression? No? I'm very confused.

    How about:

    Material Outgasing
    Vacuum pump(s) selection
    Controls
    Costs.

I'm referring to the design of the chamber only.

OK, what is the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the chamber? Atmosphere = 14.7 psi...

I read somewhere that the moon was made of green cheese.
    Why?
