I was talking to one of my old classmates the other day, and he kept telling me he was "scared to fail" the FE Exam. I wanted to punch him in the face and give him a hug at the same time. I kept talking to him and his biggest "limiting belief" is the fear of the emotional devastation he would have if he didn't pass. He would lose confidence in himself and his abilities.
I had to remind him that he was one of the most talented engineers that I had ever worked with (that's not a lie), and that he was the only thing getting in the way. I asked him what the absolute worst case scenario was if he took the exam?
"I fail".
My response: "You are in no different position than where you are right now. So what's the best case scenario?"
"I pass and I can leverage myself for better opportunities"
Absolutely. It's a no brainer.
Don't be afraid to fail. The engineering community needs more Professional Engineers (like you).
So I'm curious... if you are on the fence about even taking the exam, what is holding you back?
Fearing failure is failure.
