    Cantilever Wire (formulas and calculations)

    Hi All

I was wondering if anyone may have the formula for this or could assist.

Basically a cantilever wire is being attached onto a steel column (weight 10kg)
Stretching 20m across to attach to a building at 10m above ground.
Through experience I am confident that this will be safe to do.However,
I was wondering if anyone could give me formulas or calculations in working out sections of stress and inertia moments?
The wind area of the wire is fairly small at 0.12m2

    Can anyone assist.

    Many thanks

First, the wire you are describing is not "Cantilever".

The section of inertia can be calculated here:

    Section Properties Round

    Loading calculations:

Stress in the cable may be calculated..
