    Confused Straightness at MMC

    I have a question regarding example 5.3 (ASME Y14.5 - 2009). Question: I want to make a gauge for verification of this part? Is such a gauge design possible? if so what will be sizes and tolerances for such a gauge?
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Yes, ring gauge (16.00 + 0.04) - gauge tolerance = gauge size.

    Gauge should be specified per. ANSI B4.4M or ISO equivalent.

    I have a part with Dia 16.02 and Straightness 0.01. What will gauge do with that part? Pass or fail?

    The gauge that Kelly described is only for verifying the GD&T requirement (that seemed to be the implication of your original question).
    But another gauge would be needed to verify the "actual local size" and if that is measured at 16.02 then the part would be rejected, regardless of how well it meets the GD&T.

    Yes, so Belangers gauge would likely be a "no-go gauge" in that it is sized slightly smaller than LMC size and the gauge I'm referencing would be classified as a "go gauge".
