    Line to Line Fit Between Hole and Pin

    I have a question, I know that a .1890 Diameter pin will not go in a .1890 hole, but somewhere is there something that states this, I remember the .0002 clearance for things to happen but cannot find it in writing. I have 1000 pcs rejected because the .1890 pin will not go but the .1889 pin will. Thanks for your help!

    Actually, a .1890 diameter pin will fit into a .1890 diameter hole - if you apply enough force. Perfect ~ Line to line contact between two surfaces (if possible) will result in frictional sliding forces preventing easy sliding or free movement.

    Be aware that the actual mating diameter is equal to the MMC size plus the form or warp of the perspective pin or shaft. The actual mating diameter is determined by collapsing a cylinder about an as-built pin or external diameter until the the three outermost surface areas are contacted by the collapsing cylinder. This represents the actual mating diameter.

    The actual mating diameter of a hole is equal to MMC minus form or warpage.
