    shaft design problem

    Dear all , i hope someone can help me solving this exercise as soon as possible .question:The shaft of the figure is manufactured from a ductile steel and has a polished surface . The shaft diameter is d=25mm. it is simply supported at points A and B and a keyway is located a point C. a perpendicular load to the shaft axis of 5 KN acts in the middle of the shaft length.
    A)Calculate the shaft safety factor for static problem.
    B)Calculate the shaft safety factor if rolling bearings are placed at points A and B and the shaft rotates. DATA:Yield stress σy=350 MPa .
    Fatigue strength σε= 241.6 MPa .
    Notched stress concentration at keyway Kf= 1.78 .
    Coefficient of size (diameter) Cs= 0.85 .
    a=10 mm.
    b=15 mm.
    c=10 mm.
    d=70 mm.

    Looks like school homework... Did you read the rules when you registered for Engineers Edge forums.
