    total runout and diameter size tolerance

    Is it redundant to have total runout of .001 on a diameter tolerance of .001?
    What is the difference?

    Kelly has answered this question for me. My apologies for posting in wrong place.

    Kelly: No, not at all. The diameter size tolerance controls the variations in size and form where the Total Runout controls the location of the diameter relative to a datum reference (zero location).

    Total runout does provide form (Cylindricity, Circularity and straightness) in addition to location control.
