If a jet of pressurized air flows through a short, straight hole into the atmosphere, what is the temperature of the emerging air stream? Will it be the temp predicted by an isentropic expansion or the temp predicted by a throttling process (Joule-Thomson cooling, constant h)? They predict substantially different temperatures. Assume the pressure drop is high enough for the flow to be sonic at the exit and ignore heat transfer to the wall.

Thanks
