Swaged Flemish eye pulled over a sheave

Hi. I am hoping to find any information in regards to pulling a swaged Flemish Eye over a sheave. Is it acceptable? Are there any regulations that state not to do this?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you need more information, let me know.

I can't find a specific reg to back this up but I'm going to say no. Sheaves are gauged for the wire diameters and also play a part in the overall lifting/operating strength of the wire. Without more info it's hard to comment but it sounds like the wrong type of splice has been used or a miscalculated wire length. Is that your concern? Think of tying a knot to secure a rope to an object and then trying to pull that knot through a pulley. Sounds like hard work.
