    Astm f 1233

Is anybody here familiar with this standard? On one construction job we are asked to meet Class II and III...From the website of ASTM, the brief intro. of this standard mentioned the ballistic and force entry, not sure if this is ballistic-tested/related level...appreciate any knowledgeable input...

    Thanks,
    Alan

If you're bidding a job and don't know what this means, you had better not bid it. If you just want to understand it for future bids, or just for curiosity, you'll have to fork out the $55 ASTM wants to charge for it (get the redlined version) and then you'll need to read it and study it. BTW, this document may refer to other documents that you will also need to buy. A large library might have some of them but I doubt it.

A quick google search reveals that this is a testing method for glazing and glazing systems (i.e. windows and glass). Generally, if you install products that are certified to meet ASTM F1233, you should be okay. Note that this is more than just the glass; it also includes the structure and mounting system that holds the glass.
