Strengthening/Straightening Staircase Stringer with Steel Angle Iron.

In the midst of refinishing my basement, I noticed something off with my staircase. I then realized that one of the stringers is bowing away from the tread. I was thinking of using Angle Iron to slowly pull the stringer straight again. The dimensions of the steel angle iron I was going to use 1/8" Thick, 1.5" x 2" With the 2" side facing the bowed side. Will 1/8" be strong enough or do you recommend 1/4" thick to straighten out the 2" x 10" stringer board?

    Thanks!

Depends on the reason it's bowed out; timber is a funny material. Do you have any pictures you could post?
