    Presswork or Drawing Tools

    Hi All,
A really simple couple of questions for experienced manufacturers. I am having some small profiled steel doors made. The original press tools were made for drawing 1mm (about 18 gauge) mild steel. The depth of the draw being 3mm to create the frame profile I am wanting to achieve. However I am looking at different finishes to the doors and wondered could the same press tools be used on 1mm carbon steel or even 1mm 304 (A2) stainless?
Also the doors are 160mm wide (high) by 350mm long. The draw we wanted was 6mm deep but we have been told we can only achieve 3mm. Is this because we would be likely to tear the steel? Could we achieve this with a series or press tools?
    Many thanks

    Tim

I doubt anybody (including myself) on this forum can assess the capabilities of your forming tools..

You need to trust the feedback of those who design and operate the tooling in question..
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
