Calculating torque of an L shaped lever

    Hi there,

I am trying to do some calculations regarding motorcycle dynamics ( i am studying my masters in motorcycle engineering). But i am getting stuck regarding calculating a torque of an L shaped system.

    Imagine the scenario below

How would one go about calculating the torque around the furthermost left point? How is it different to just using T = F*r*sin(theta)? Once i understand this i will be able to modify it to calculate the amount the rear suspension compresses under chain tension

    Thanks

    Ross
