    Threads on hardened 52100 steel

The component is made out of 52100 steel with 5/16-24 threads, then through hardened to 60 HRC. Will the threads become brittle and breaks when tightened?

Typically, 52110 chrome steel is used in bearing and bearing components.

I'm sure you can thread the material though I doubt it is easy and I doubt you would have too much problems it if properly torqued. here's a rod-end made from 52100.
