Removing existing underpurlin for vaulted ceiling

As per the rough photo I've included, I have a vaulted ceiling I'm doing but was hoping to remove the existing underpulin that supports the old rafters and re-support them off of the new LVL rafters that will be placed below them. Are there any issues supporting the the upper rafters with a strut from the new lower ones?

Probably OK if the new lower supports are the same length or shorter. Looks like a lot of work and more wood to accomplish the same support.

I can gain a slightly higher vault by changing the underpulin support. The positioning right now is difficult because of its size. Also, the 2x6 I want to remove is getting pretty worn on both end of the room, so it's probably best to change them now while it's open.
