    Torque calculation

    Hi

I am designing a welding fixture. The fixture starts flat and needs to rotate 90° in CW direction. When fully spread out it will be 2000 mm wide. The weight that needs to rotate is 1400 lbs. The fixture was designed so it would spread from the center out so the weight would be evenly distributed over the center axis. Can I use the cylinder formula to calculate the torque required to rotate this fixture...?

A diagram would help. Look around. You'll find instructions on how to do that.

I am with JB, while it is clear in your head what the thing looks like, I have nooooo idea what you are trying to achieve.

We can only give useful advice with a good understanding of what you need.
