Hi All,

I am a student doing some research on the feasibility of using steel I-beams with variable flange and web size (to maintain structural integrity while reducing the material wastage) in automotive industry.

Based on my initial research, trailer trucks seem to be the vehicles where I-beams are most widely used. I would really appreciate feedback/comments on the possibility of using the Ideal I-beams instead of the regular I-beams in trailer trucks.

The obvious advantages we see out of this is having a light weight structure which could increase the fuel efficiency.

Regards,
Matt
