    Rollform machine Moment of Inertia

we currently have a rollforming machine being driven by an ac motor and gear reduction box
i would like to change this configuration to a servo motor driven rollformer
is it possible to measure the moment of inertia for the entire machine without having to calculate the moments for each roller, shaft and other components
    thank you for any help

I am not sure Moment of Inertia is what you are after, but I have been wrong before.

Since you are replacing the motive force, why not just use the maximum HP/Torque of the AC motor plus the gear reduction ratio to find what Torque is being put into the machine now? If it is working as desired with that Torque, then as long as you equal that, I'd imagine it would be a close enough start point.
