oil sample from 1" pipe

Just want to hear your thoughts about a thing here

We are going to take several oil samples, from several points in a system.
Mainly we are going to take the samples from 1" flanges, with 1/2" NPT hole.

Would there be a problem doing this from the center of a 1/2" NPT hole, with a minimess valve inserted in the 1/2" hole?
Would it be a reliable oil sample, considering that the most of the contamination (if present in the oil) will hit the flange, instead of going trough the 1/2" NPT hole
