Shear Stability of Grease Definition

Shear stability: Grease consistency may change as it is mechanically worked or sheared between wearing surfaces. A greases ability to maintain its consistency when worked is its shear stability or mechanical stability. A grease that softens as it is worked is called thixotropic.
