Polyurethane Adhesives Review

Materials Chemicals Adhesives Menu

Polyurethane Adhesives are flexible, durable, chemical and impact resistant compounds. These adhesives are used in assembly of many industrial and consumer products. These adhesive are available in pre-mixed and mutiple-part mixing systems. Polyurethane adhesives are available in a wide range on compounds for use in a variety of application. Applications include: Automotive, conveyor systems and belts, textiles, plumbing, construction, sheet metal, and gap filling.

Polyurethane adhesives typically provide excellent bonding strength, humidity and water resistant, selected solvent and chemical resistance, temperature tolerant, and tight seals. Advantages include: rapid curing and good adhesion strength, low cost, and very good material compatibility.

Polyurethane adhesives exhibit very good compression set characteristics. Polyurethane adhesives may cure by the application of a heat source or air. Some compounds may have a short shelf life due to their moisture absorption characteristics.

Adhesives are specified by cure time, range of use temperature, chemical stability, material compatibility, application, industry specification, shear and tensile strength. Polyurethane adhesives are sometimes referred to as "urethane adhesives".
