Pirelli Broadband Solutions Launches B+ Triplexer for G-pon Applications At OFC/NFOEC 2006

The company to present its Integrated Optical Triplexer and the components, modules and sub systems that make up its end-to-end solution

Milan and Atlanta, GA - 1st March, 2006 - Pirelli Broadband Solutions, the new broadband access and photonics company within the Pirelli Group, will introduce its latest product family of G-PON triplexers for the emerging FTTx market at the Optical Fiber Communication/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) in Anaheim, Calif., on March 7, 2006.

Pirelli G-PON Integrated Optical Triplexer delivers performance, high quality and cost savings to telecom operators deploying triple-play services through FTTx architectures.
Electronic packaging, highly-automated production processes and deep integration of lasers and photodiodes at dye level are the technical advantages delivering costs savings while maintaining the highest quality standard and achieving the latest ITU-T G.984.2 B+ class requirements.

"With massive investments in the access network, PON is becoming one of the most critical technologies in the access network value chain. Nowhere is this more evident than in markets such as North America," said Kevin Riddett, President and CEO of Pirelli NA.

"The G-PON Integrated Optical Triplexer that Pirelli is introducing at OFC complies to the latest ITU-T G. 984.2 B+ requirements and delivers the performance, quality and cost savings that telecom operators require to mass deploy GPON solutions to deliver triple-play services."

"Pirelli Broadband Solutions brings to OFC/NFOEC the Group's more than 30 years of experience in global markets as a world-class brand with a distinguished history in the Optical Communications and Telecom industries," said Mauro Sacchetto, CEO of Pirelli Broadband Solutions. "As we have in the past, Pirelli is ready to deliver innovation, value and costs savings to local markets."

Pirelli Broadband Solutions specializes in broadband access technology and photonics. The Access division provides a range of broadband CPE including access gateways, set-top boxes, multiple handsets, and a remote management system; while the Photonics division leverages nanotechnology and its use of tunable and pluggable solutions to deliver multi-wavelength components, modules and subsystems including tunable lasers, RoF, GPON Triplexers, and a CWDM metro access system.
