LA PORTE, TEXAS (February 8, 2005) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) announced today that its RytonŽ PPS Compounding Facility in La Porte, Texas has achieved Global Automotive Quality System ISO/TS16949:2002 certification.ISO/TS16949:2002 certification expands upon the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 to include standardized technical specifications and a quality system approach applicable to the worldwide automotive industry. "As a supplier of high performance engineering thermoplastics to the automotive industry, this certification emphasizes our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction," said RytonŽ PPS Product Manager, Bob Goodman. Certification of the facility was based upon a qualified third-party audit of management commitment, a design and development process focused on customer satisfaction, validation of products and processes prior to full scale production, specific definition of purchased products and monitoring of supplier performance to specific standards. Additionally, FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effective Analysis) and control plans for all manufacturing process steps, and the monitoring and measuring of manufacturing process capability were also audited."As a new facility, the necessary training and audits were conducted in a condensed time frame compared to facilities certified to ISO 9001 or QS-9000," said RytonŽ PPS Compounding Facility Manager, Bob Bohmer. "The hard work of our facility's employees, along with the support of the Ryton business group and our technology center, further demonstrates our company's commitment to customers and quality standardization."This is the Ryton business group's second of three production facilities that have been approved to this standard. The RytonŽ PPS Compounding Plant in Kallo-Beveren, Belgium has also received recommendation for certification, with plans for the Chevron Phillips Chemical Asia Pte. Ltd.
