The Toyota production system, as a philosophy of work, has its origins in the textile industry and in particular in the creation of an automatic loom (about the year 1900 by Sakichi Toyoda) which aims to improve the lives of the workers freeing them from repetitive tasks. Based on this invention and innovations and subsequent patents the Toyota family founded a textile company (Okawa Menpu) in Nagoya which later became Toyota Motor Company. Is this textile time when born the concepts of Jidoka (translated by some authors as "Automation") and Poka-yoke (resistant bugs) that along with later concepts such as Just-in-Time (just in time) and Muda (wastes) come in the middle of century what has called Toyota production system
