Mark,
Building an airplane you are (should) required to aircraft bolts for another important reason. The marterial and screw works can be traced back to the very area on the mine ir was all mined at. The material at the foundry was tested and certified and every stage along the way was certified. This is you best protection against a bad batch of material or heat treat being the source of a failure crash.
Aircraft screws and bolts are certified, and tracable. ....
